There are many places to stay en route to the desert. The places we recommend below have been chosen for their charm and quality. They also serve excellent meals.

Kasbah Azul

Kasbah Azul is a 10-bedroom guesthouse located in the Draa Valley. Its location within the palm oasis is magical. It has recently opened its own hammam. Rates are from 160 euro per night including breakfast and dinner, although we tend to recommend the slighly larger Junior Suites, which cost 195 euro per night.

Riad Caravane

8 bedrooms, very tastefully desighed, understated elegenace. It feels (and is) lighter and fresher than most guesthouses. We prefer to offer the superior rooms, which costs from 135 euro including breakfast and dinner.

Kasbah Ellouze

An 11-bedroom guesthouse attached to a decaying kasbah, near Ait Benhaddou. The location is superb, being in a traditional village with views from its terrace of the verdantly green Ounila river. It’s about 4 hours from Marrakech and 6 hours from the desert. Rates from 95 euro per night including breakfast and dinner, although we prefer to recommend its spacious suites at 135 euro per night.

Kasbah Tamsna

Opened in 2022, this is a very tastefully desighed 15 bedroom boutique guest house, with superb and spacious room. Rates are from 230 euro per night including breakfast and dinner.

Dar Al Hossoun
(en route to Agadir and Essaouira)

Located in Taroudant (7 hours from the camp en route to Essaouira), this 14-bedroom guesthouse is set in some divine gardens. Rates are from 220 euro per night including breakfast and dinner.

Palais Oumensour
(en route to Agadir and Essaouira)

Located in the medina of Taroudant (7 hours from the camp en route to Essaouira), it has 15 bedrooms. The place is tranquil, and an excellent value overnight stop, with the souks in a short walking distance. Rates are from 160 euro per night. Including breakfast and dinner. We prefer to book the superior rooms, or very spacious suites here.

Auberge Le Festival
(en route to Fez)

Located inside Todra Gorge, its setting is amazing. It has 12 rooms, of which five are cave rooms and the other tower rooms. We prefer to book their top end cave rooms, and in the summer months their top end tower rooms. Rates are from 135 euro per night including breakfast and dinner.
